The Very Reverend Peter Carey is the Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Cathedral Road, Philadelphia. From a very young age, Peter has recognized God’s grace in our lives and has strived to share God’s love in word and deed. Before entering ordained ministry, Peter worked for over 15 years as an educator, teacher, and coach in several Independent Schools. As a priest, Peter has worked in two Episcopal Schools as the Head Chaplain, and served at two dynamic churches in Virginia before being called to serve as Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Cathedral Road, Philadelphia.
He holds two master’s degrees and has taught history, humanities, and religious studies to students ages 10-18. He also has coached lacrosse for over three decades at every level from youth to the professional indoor game. He serves the Diocese of Pennsylvania on the Dean’s Council, the Diocesan Council, and the LGBTQ+ Committee, and previously served on the Finance and Nominations Committee.
Serving as a priest in the Diocese of Pennsylvania at St. Mary’s - Cathedral Road is a profound honor and a privilege.
