News from the Diocese

 



Churches are taking advantage of good weather and social distancing outside. Here, Bible study takes place outdoors at St. David's in Radnor.
The Rev. Tim Safford preaches this Sunday in a service with Bishop Gutiérrez. Safford is the rector at Christ Church in Philadelphia. Service takes place at Washington Memorial Chapel and airs at 9 a.m. on FB, YouTube and the One Love Channel.
On 10/17 the History Committee's fall forum focuses on the Church of St. Asaph, using the parish as an example of the late 19th century suburbanization of Philadelphia’s Episcopalians along the railroad lines stretching out from Center City to points across the metropolitan area. Details.
Can't sleep, or are you a night owl? Pray the Office of the Night Watch with Deacon Matthew at midnight on 10/12, 10/14, 10/18 and 10/21. "We will be in intercessory prayer using the prayer list of the Diocesan Soul Care Ministry." Details.
The diocese has organized opportunities for people to obtain free flu shots at churches across the diocese - and we are adding more locations. Plus some screenings for diabetes. Details.
On 11/14, the Anti-Racism Commission continues its four-part training with "An Introduction to Systematic Racism." Details.
Ordinations continue, even virtually. Darrell Tiller and Yesenia Alejandro will be ordained to the priesthood on 10/10 and Jeremiah Mustered will be ordained to the diaconate on 10/14. Both events will be live-streamed. Click on the dates above for more details.
The registration process for the 237th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania opened on 10/7 and continues until 11/1. The cost of Convention attendance this year will be $40 to cover some of the costs of our virtual convention. To ensure a seamless process for our virtual convention, the registration link and details about how to register was sent to clergy and vestry wardens so that they can register their deputations. Pre-Convention meetings continue on 10/15 & 11/5. Registration is required for these.
The Church Pension Group provides health plans for employees of the diocese's churches. On 10/21, they will have an open forum for those looking to hear more about plan offerings available for the Jan. '21 annual enrollment period. To register for this, please contact Canon Horner.  
Your help needed. The Church of the Holy Trinity on Rittenhouse Square has organized a blood drive on 11/16. Additionally, CHT will receive ten dollars for every pint of blood donated, which will go directly towards buying winter items for our Curbside Care program. Details.
